„Defining the function of heterogenous neuronal populations in energy and glucose homeostasis“

Over the last decades numerous neuropeptidergic neurocircuits have been identified, which critically regulate energy and glucose homeostasis, including POMC- and AgRP-expresing neurons in the hypothalamus. The recent availability of single cell sequencing techniques has revealed that these based on the expression of their characteristic neuropeptides previously considered homogenous cell populations exhibit a high level of molecular heterogeneity, although the functional consequences of this heterogeneity remain unaddressed. The presentation will focus on the establishment and functional validation of new mouse models to genetically dissect the anatomical and functional organization of such heterogenous neuron populations.
