Expertise

Prof. Robert Krause developed and expanded Clinical Infectious Diseases at Medical University of Graz. He is a physician scientist with special training in infectious diseases, internal medicine, and intensive care medicine. Prof. Krause investigates clinical aspects of fungal infections including biomarkers for earlier detection of fungal infections and risk stratification. Further topics of his research team include sepsis, foreign body associated infections, gastrointestinal infections, „antibiotic stewardship“ and „(re-) emerging infections“. Results of his team could be integrated in clinical routine and improved patient care, e.g. in patients with staphylococcus aureus bacteremia (final „Steirischer Qualitätspreis Gesundheit“). Currently his research group works on host-pathogen interactions in fungal infections and biomarker development in sepsis.
Prof Krause was President of the Austrian Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (ÖGACH; 2016-2018) and is a board member of the Austrian Society for Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine and the ÖGACH. He was part of an EU project („abs-international“) and execute(d) projects funded by Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and the Austrian Science Fund (FWF).
