Further information about BioTechMed-Graz
BioTechMed-Graz is a cooperative research initiative of the University of Graz, the Graz University of Technology, and the Medical University of Graz. Its activities take place at the interface of basic biomedical research, technological developments and medical applications with the aim of joint research for health. This strategic cooperation enables the partner universities to address highly complex topics with interdisciplinary teams able to apply a broad spectrum of methods and infrastructure.
Through BioTechMed-Graz, the three partner universities’ aim to bundle and strengthen existing competences in four large mutual research areas: Molecular Biomedicine, Neurosciences, Pharmaceutical and Medical Technology, Biotechnology as well as Quantitative Biomedicine and Modeling. This unique cooperative platform makes the strengths of Graz as a research location clearer and more identifiable for members of science, industry and politics.
The main goals of BioTechMed-Graz include funding of excellent interdisciplinary research projects, promotion of young scientists and increase the international visibility of Graz as a research location. In addition, the acquisition of shared infrastructure and the support of interlinking formats to enable communication and collaboration among member laboratories are essential for BioTechMed-Graz.
BioTechMed-Graz represents an interuniversity cooperation model that takes a unique approach in the growing market of health care innovation in Austria. The key advantage of this research network is that highly complex challenges in biomedical research can be successfully and efficiently addressed through cooperative efforts applied by various disciplines. This successful strategy strengthens existing fields of research and widens into new innovative areas of research.
