On February 26, 2020 at 5 pm the upgrade of the MRI scanner in Kopernikusgasse 24 at Graz University of Technology will be celebrated in the course of a BioTechMed-Graz Faculty Club. Following the visit of the scanner, a get-together will take place in the Rooftop Mensa (Stremayrgasse 16, 5th floor).

On March 18, 2020 at 5 pm Prof. Albert-László Barabási (Center of Complex Networks Research, Northeastern University and Division of Network Medicine, Harvard University) will give a Flagship Lecture on the topic "Network Medicine: From Cellular Networks to the Human Diseasome". You do not need to register for this event.

Further information on Prof. Barabásis talk:
Given the functional interdependencies between the molecular components in a human cell, a disease is rarely a consequence of an abnormality in a single gene, but reflects the perturbations of the complex intracellular network. The emerging tools of network medicine offer a platform to explore systematically not only the molecular complexity of a particular disease, leading to the identification of disease modules and pathways, but also the molecular relationships between apparently distinct (patho) phenotypes. Advances in this direction are essential to identify new disease genes, to uncover the biological significance of disease-associated mutations identified by genome-wide association studies and full genome sequencing, and to identify drug targets and biomarkers for complex diseases.

The BioTechMed-Graz Faculty Club offers a platform for interdisciplinary exchange and networking to all full and associated members of BioTechMed-Graz in the form of "casual evenings". Additionally to these "casual evenings", the event series includes "BioTechMed-Graz Flagship Lectures". The Faculty Club takes place on the third Wednesday of every month at 5.00 p.m. at the "Mensa Rooftop" of TU Graz, Stremayrgasse 16, 5th floor.

Faculty Club - Flagship Lectures 2020:

On January 15, 2020 at 5 pm Dr. Axel Thielscher, associate professor at the Technical University of Denmark, gave a Flagship Lecture on the topic "40 years of transcranial brain stimulation: Brave pioneers and new frontiers". (Digest, German only)
