No, applicants may not enter into or maintain an employment relationship with any BioTechMed-Graz partner university during the period of the Lab Rotation.
Yes, students who are currently still in their master's studies can also apply for the Lab Rotation Program. However, verification of completion of the master’s degree must be provided before 15 December of the respective call year.
No, your current supervisor does not have to be a member of BioTechMed-Graz, nor does anything else need to be considered. The only important thing is that you apply for a lab rotation in a research field that is not related to the topic of your master’s thesis.
It is important that the research area of the lab is not related to the topic of your master’s thesis.

Questions to the BioTechMed-Graz Lab Rotation Program Selection Process
An Evaluation Committee consisting of young scientists from the four BioTechMed-Graz research areas evaluates all applications received. The Board of Directors in accordance with the Executive Committee will make the final decision on funding based on the recommendation of the Evaluation Committee.

Questions to the completion of the BioTechMed-Graz Lab Rotation
The Lab Rotation must start between October 1, 2025 and January 31, 2026. A later start date is not possible.

You will receive a scholarship of EUR 8,000 in two tranches for one Lab Rotation. The first will be paid out after the signing of your scholarship agreement, the second after submission of the mandatory final report at the end of the four-month lab rotation.
The income of the BioTechMed-Graz Lab Rotation Program is income from self-employment.
The final report signed by your supervisor must be sent to the BioTechMed-Graz office by e-mail no later than the last day of your Lab Rotation. Please refer to the Lab Rotation Guidelines for details on the final report.
