BioTechMed-Graz is a cooperative research initiative of the University of Graz, Graz University of Technology, and the Medical University of Graz. Its activities take place at the intersection of basic biomedical research, technological developments and medical applications with the aim of joint research for health. This research alliance enables the partner universities to address highly complex topics with interdisciplinary teams able to apply a broad spectrum of methods and infrastructure.
Through BioTechMed-Graz, the three partner universities’ aim to bundle and strengthen existing competences in three large mutual research areas: Disease Mechanisms, Medical Technologies and Model- and Data-Driven Methods. This unique collaborative platform makes the strengths of Graz as a research location visible and clearly identifiable to the scientific community, industry, and policy makers.
The main goals of BioTechMed-Graz include funding excellent and interdisciplinary research projects, promoting young scientists, and increasing the international visibility of Graz as a research location. Another key focus is the shared use of research infrastructure, and the organization of high-quality networking events to to foster communication and collaboration among BioTechMed-Graz members.
BioTechMed-Graz is an inter-university alliance unique within Austria’s growing health sector. The key advantage of this research alliance is its ability to tackle highly complex challenges through collaboration across diverse disciplines and the efficient use of a wide range of methods and infrastructure. This approach strengthens existing research areas and fosters the development of innovative new fields.
